If you have a gaming PC, you shouldn't be playing in 720p. Ryujinx allows you to upscale your favorite titles to 4K, add anti-aliasing, and even use specialized mods like UltraCam to unlock framerates up to 120 FPS or higher.

Here is how to build the ultimate PC emulation setup.

1. Hardware Requirements for 4K

To run games at higher-than-native resolution, your PC needs some muscle:

  • CPU: Intel i5-12400 / Ryzen 5 5600 or better (Emulation is CPU-heavy!).

  • GPU:

    • 1080p: GTX 1060 / RX 580.

    • 1440p: RTX 2060 / RX 5700.

    • 4K: RTX 3070 / RX 6800 or better.

  • RAM: 16GB is the baseline for 2026 gaming.

2. Installation & "The Brain" Setup

  1. Download: Get the latest Ryujinx build from the official site. It comes as a .zip file—extract it to a folder like C:\Games\Ryujinx.

  2. The System Folder: Open Ryujinx, go to File > Open Ryujinx Folder. Inside, find the System folder.

  3. Keys: Drop your prod.keys and title.keys here. Without these, Ryujinx won't even recognize your games.

  4. Firmware: Go to Tools > Install Firmware. Select your firmware .zip (we recommend version 20.x for 2026 titles). This is required for system fonts and Mii data to load correctly.

3. Graphics Optimization (The 60 FPS Secret)

Don't leave the settings on default! Go to Options > Settings > Graphics:

  • Graphics Backend: Set this to Vulkan. It is significantly faster and more stable than OpenGL on almost all modern GPUs.

  • Resolution Scale: Set to 2x (1440p) or 3x (4K) depending on your monitor.

  • Anisotropic Filtering: Set to 16x (this makes textures in the distance look sharp instead of blurry).

  • Upscale Filter: Use FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) and set the sharpness to 80% for that crisp, modern look.

4. Controller Setup

Ryujinx has native support for almost everything.

  • Go to Input > Player 1 > Configure.

  • Choose your controller (Xbox, DualSense, or Pro Controller).

  • Pro Tip: Enable Motion Controls if you’re using a DualSense or Switch Pro controller—it’s essential for shrines in Zelda or aiming in Splatoon.

5. Managing Updates & DLC

Your games won't run at their best if they are on "Version 1.0."

  • Right-click your game in the Ryujinx list.

  • Select Manage Title Updates to add your .nsp update files.

  • Select Manage DLC to unlock extra content.
